Dance & Fitness Classes

En Pointe Dance and Fitness offers dance classes to all ages, as well as fitness classes for adults.

Children Classes: Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pointe and Tap. For our littlest dancers (18mo-3yr) we offer a creative movement class to introduce them to dance.

Adult Classes: Ballet, Burn at the Barre, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Zumba.

The base of all forms of dance, Ballet technique consists of stylized and controlled movements and positions, which develops ultimate strength and flexibility. Ballet is beneficial at any age, and is a safe form of exercise and building strength. We strongly encourage all of our students enrolled in more than one form of dance to study ballet, as the technique is found in every dance class.

Ballet/Tap Combo

The class is split into two studies: ballet which helps develop technique, strength, flexibility, coordination and motor skills and tap for timing, rhythm, coordination and musicality. Students also play games that enhance cognitive and social development and learn classroom etiquette. These two disciplines are the core of all other dance techniques and will jump start your child’s journey into the world of dance as a discipline and an art.

Burn at the Barre

Based on a fusion of Pilates and classic barre techniques, we have created an efficient and safe program that focuses on proper form. It’s the perfect blend of deep muscle toning with resistance, the grace of ballet, the flexibility of yoga and the core strengthening of Pilates. The class is designed in a specific sequence that builds strength and stamina with intervals of sprints and recovery. The sequence allows for interchangeable “blocks” of exercises for versatility. We use light to heavy hand weights, a playground ball and an exercise band as props to achieve maximal results. No dance experience is required! See results fast! Have fun while sculpting your body and burning fat. All levels are welcome.

Contemporary Dance- expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres; including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.  Dancers will strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.  Oppositional movement, alignment, raw emotion and systematic breathing is its main focus.

Hip-Hop is a fast-paced and exciting class that introduces students to intricate popular movements to hip-hop beats and lyrics. The class may include breaking, popping, and locking. Hip-Hop is a great aerobic workout that develops strength and flexibility. Hip-Hop is constantly changing, and new styles are regularly incorporated into classes.

Jazz is a combination of a variety of styles of dance: ballet, African dance, Musical Theater, Modern, and social dances. Jazz dance has a firm technique and strength base, allowing for individualized movement. Jazz is a great form of dance for any age, developing strength and flexibility. Students of jazz are strongly encouraged to study ballet simultaneously for the best possible jazz dance experience.

Tap dancing combines dance traditions from Europe and Africa. It is a dance of strong rhythms and relies almost totally on footwork. The feet become musical instruments marking out complex rhythms with the heel and the toe. In This class the student will develop a strong sense of music, timing and discipline.

Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.
